The person behind the name
Johnny Klebitz is the central playable character of The Lost and Damned, the first GTA IV story expansion. He serves as vice president of the Lost motorcycle club’s Alderney chapter. While president Billy Grey is absent, Johnny has tried to keep the club functioning through pragmatic decisions and a less destructive relationship with rival bikers.
Billy’s return makes that approach difficult to sustain. For Billy, Johnny’s restraint looks like weakness; for Johnny, Billy’s aggression threatens the club’s future. Their conflict gives the expansion a different structure from Niko’s search for a new beginning. Johnny already belongs to a close-knit organization, and the story asks what that belonging is worth when leadership becomes a liability.
Motorcycle riding, group formations and the clubhouse express the club’s social identity through play. Terry and Clay provide practical support, while Jim Fitzgerald offers Johnny a trusted friendship within an increasingly divided organization. The club is both a working network and a surrogate family, making disputes over money and authority feel personal.
Johnny’s relationship with Ashley Butler draws him into another pattern of obligation. He cares about her despite the repeated danger surrounding her drug use and associates. Combined with Billy’s demands, that attachment leaves Johnny trying to rescue people who are often unwilling or unable to protect themselves. His competence rarely gives him real control over their decisions.
Story spoilers — reveal narrative details
the diamond transaction links Johnny’s story to Niko and Luis, showing the same criminal economy from another perspective. Billy’s betrayal and Jim’s death accelerate the club’s collapse. Johnny eventually confronts Billy in prison, and the surviving bikers burn their clubhouse. His later appearance in GTA V ends violently at Trevor’s hands, a separate chapter set after the Liberty City expansion.
