The person behind the name
Devin owns multiple businesses and is associated with Merryweather’s private military power. He hires the protagonists for lucrative-looking work while protecting his own position. His wealth allows him to create risks for other people without bearing those risks himself.
His dealings with Michael connect corporate interests, stolen vehicles and the film industry. Their relationship becomes openly hostile as those interests collide. In the ending structure, Devin represents a source of pressure on Franklin’s decision about the future of the crew.
