The briefing
Grand Theft Auto VI is announced for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Sony’s official page explicitly excludes PlayStation 4. The official Xbox listing identifies Xbox Series X|S and single-player support. A Windows release date and PC system requirements are absent from the launch announcements reviewed here.
Choose by the console you own
PS5 names a console family; Xbox Series X|S names Microsoft’s current Series consoles. Do not confuse the latter with the similarly named Xbox One X or Xbox One S. Before ordering a code, check both the platform and the account that will redeem it. A PlayStation purchase is not a license for an Xbox account.
A physical-looking box does not automatically solve platform or ownership questions. Rockstar’s version guide explains the distribution format and redemption process. Read that information before buying a boxed edition as a gift, especially if the recipient’s account region differs from the retailer’s country.
What Sony has described
PlayStation advertises Tempest 3D Audio, SSD loading, DualSense haptics, adaptive-trigger resistance and controller-speaker effects. These are feature descriptions from the platform holder. They should not be read as independent measurements of load times, image quality or performance.
For a console comparison, look for recorded tests of the shipping build on each model. A video captured on PS5 does not establish Xbox performance, and a console’s maximum output specification does not guarantee that a particular game runs at that resolution or frame rate. We do not assign unannounced graphics modes to either platform.
PC and other systems
A PC version remains a separate announcement to watch for. Requirements copied from another Rockstar game cannot become GTA VI requirements simply by changing the title. The same applies to claims about launchers, ultrawide support, mod tools or cross-platform saves.
If you plan to play exclusively on PC, the useful decision is whether to wait for an official product listing; buying a console edition does not reserve a future PC license. The archive will treat any later port as its own release with its own supported hardware and verified features.
