The briefing
Packie’s bank job is one of GTA IV’s largest sustained combat missions. Refill armor and ammunition before picking up the crew. The escape is about keeping the group moving through successive positions, rather than defeating every police officer who can spawn. Stay aware of where your companions are before pushing into the next street.
Walkthrough: drive the crew to the Bank of Liberty and follow the robbery sequence. When the situation escalates, use cover outside the bank and clear the immediate route. Move with Packie and Derrick through the marked streets, pausing to reload in protected positions. In the subway section, watch the track as well as the officers: rail traffic remains a separate danger. Once the group returns above ground, obtain a suitable vehicle, lose the wanted level and take the survivors back to their destination. A vehicle with room for everyone is essential.
Story spoilers — reveal narrative details
the robbery costs Michael Keane his life but gives Niko a substantial payout and advances the McReary family storyline. Alderney becomes legally accessible afterward, expanding the campaign’s geography. Resist the temptation to spend the entire reward immediately: keeping a weapon and armor reserve makes the next jobs easier. The mission’s scale also foreshadows the larger role that organized heists would play in GTA V.
