The person behind the name
Carl Johnson returns from Liberty City to Los Santos in 1992 after his mother’s death. His brother Sweet is still committed to Grove Street, while Carl must rebuild ties with friends and family.
The opening chapters connect a personal homecoming with neighborhood conflict. Carl’s relationships with Sweet, Kendl and Cesar help carry the story beyond Los Santos.
Story spoilers — reveal narrative details
betrayals force Carl out of his familiar neighborhood and into alliances across San Andreas. His journey eventually returns to the question of what he owes his family.
