The person behind the name
Sonny heads the Forelli family and sends Tommy Vercetti to Vice City after Tommy’s release from prison. The failed opening transaction places Tommy under pressure to recover the family’s lost investment. Sonny’s demands follow him through the campaign.
Their relationship is built on obligation, money and an unequal claim to authority. As Tommy establishes businesses, Sonny’s expectations increasingly conflict with his independence. The tension helps explain why the finale is a struggle over ownership as well as survival.
