Use the individual database records alongside this guide to check the relevant edition, prerequisites and completion targets. A location, vehicle or activity can have different conditions in Story Mode and GTA Online.
The three protagonists begin with different strengths: Michael favors shooting, Franklin driving and Trevor flying. Their eight skills develop through related actions rather than through a single shared experience pool. Training one character does not automatically produce the same improvement for the others.
Stamina, strength, stealth, lung capacity and movement-related skills affect different situations. The special abilities are also distinct: Michael slows combat, Franklin slows driving and Trevor gains a temporary combat advantage through higher outgoing and lower incoming damage. Use the ability suited to the current task instead of treating the meter as a universal slow-motion control. The skill guide explains the practice involved, while the mission record identifies which protagonist and challenges are relevant to a particular job.
