The briefing
Use the individual database records alongside this guide to check the relevant edition, prerequisites and completion targets. A location, vehicle or activity can have different conditions in Story Mode and GTA Online.
GTA Online separates its supported platform and edition populations. PC players do not share ordinary sessions with PlayStation or Xbox players, and the native PS5 and Xbox Series editions have their own requirements. Running an older console edition through backward compatibility is different from entering the newer native edition.
That distinction matters when friends own similar-looking copies on different hardware. Compare the installed game version, then the platform family, before planning a shared session. Character migration is a transfer process; it does not itself create crossplay between the old and new products. The guide’s discussion of possible future support is speculation unless Rockstar announces it. Confirm the applicable support rules for an actual purchase or migration rather than assuming one account enables every version to play together.
