The briefing

Use the individual database records alongside this guide to check the relevant edition, prerequisites and completion targets. A location, vehicle or activity can have different conditions in Story Mode and GTA Online.

The Rockstar Editor works with captured gameplay clips, a project timeline, camera choices and export tools. Manual recording and Action Replay provide different ways to obtain footage. Director Mode supplies actors and scene controls for staging material, including unlocked characters and animals.

The creative workflow is to capture a scene, assemble useful clips, adjust the shot and edit the final sequence. Director Mode access and the actor list depend on the edition and unlocks, while Online recordings can carry their own restrictions. Platform support has changed since the feature’s original release, so an old tutorial does not guarantee the editor remains available on every version. Keep the saved project and exported video separate: one preserves editable work, and the other is the finished output.
