The briefing

First-person play was revealed for the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions of GTA V in November 2014. It was available in both the story and GTA Online, with a button-driven switch between perspectives.

The implementation included new animations, vehicle interiors, an optional first-person cover system, targeting changes and a more conventional first-person control layout. Those details made it a broader interaction change than a camera toggle alone.

Players could choose how cover and aiming behaved, so testing the available settings was a practical first step. The reveal did not add first-person play to the original PS3 or Xbox 360 edition. Keep the platform restriction attached to this announcement when comparing releases.
