The briefing
The June 11, 2020 announcement confirmed a new generation of GTA V for PS5 and Xbox Series hardware. At that stage, the stated target was the second half of 2021; the release schedule was changed later.
The announcement promised technical, visual and performance work, alongside continued GTA Online support. It also outlined a standalone Online version and an initial three-month free availability period for PS5 players.
The temporary PS5 offer, planned launch window and general improvement promises were different parts of the notice. This is the original reveal record, rather than the final release-date or feature checklist. Later platform announcements provide the finished performance modes and additional systems.
