The briefing
Target Assault races use two-person teams with one driver and one gunner in a weaponized vehicle. Their roles swap after each lap, so the same pair must handle both racing and target accuracy.
The April 2018 launch included seven tracks. Drivers scored through race position and checkpoints, while gunners earned more for smaller targets and precise central hits. The winning team was decided by the combined points, rather than the first vehicle across the finish line alone.
That scoring encourages the driver to consider the gunner’s sightline. A controlled approach can produce more target points than rushing past a valuable shot, although race position still contributes. The mode is therefore a cooperative scoring race within a competitive field, with both team members affecting the result.
