GTA Online originally positioned its opening before GTA V’s story, in early 2013. Later content moved the setting forward: Agent 14 explicitly names 2017 in Gunrunning, making a permanently pre-story interpretation untenable. Buildings, vehicles and returning characters also connect later updates with a changing Los Santos.
The reference assembles those events into a proposed chronology through 2026. Some anchors come from dialogue or clear releases; others are editorial estimates intended to organize events sensibly. A precise month in that reconstruction is therefore not automatically a date established by Rockstar.
The useful reading method is to separate explicit story evidence from inferred order. Story-mode events, the Online player’s jobs and real-world release dates are three different timelines. Where an update gives only a broad context, retain that uncertainty rather than turning a fan reconstruction into a single mandatory canon schedule.
