The briefing
GTA Online follows a player-created character through a shared version of Southern San Andreas. Progress combines jobs, ranks, property ownership and criminal businesses rather than the three-protagonist story progression of GTA V.
A practical first session is to complete the introduction, learn how to join or host a job and buy only the equipment needed for the next activity. Invite-only sessions can support many business tasks, while the selected activity still determines its participant requirements.
Content varies between Legacy, Enhanced and console versions. Match a guide’s platform listing to the edition you are actually playing, especially for features introduced alongside newer hardware.
