The briefing
The Truth sends CJ into the restricted Area 69 facility during the desert chapter. The mission begins at night and asks for a different pace from an ordinary drive-by: observe the perimeter, patrols and searchlights before moving. Arrive with health and armor, and read the mission prompts closely because the route into the underground installation can change when the alarm is raised.
Walkthrough: move through the base toward its underground entrance, avoiding unnecessary exposure to guards and lights. If stealth breaks, focus on the marked alternative access rather than trying to continue as though the alarm had never sounded. Inside, advance room by room, checking walkways and corners before stepping into open spaces. Follow the directions for disabling the air-defense system; leaving it active makes the airborne escape more dangerous. Use the facility’s layout to manage enemy sightlines and reload between encounters.
Story spoilers — reveal narrative details
the project is a jetpack, which CJ retrieves from the underground shaft. Ascend carefully, clear the opening and fly to The Truth’s meeting point. Do not confuse finishing this theft with instantly completing every later jetpack-related task. The mission introduces the device through a scripted operation, while subsequent progression develops its place in the desert storyline. Its absurd payoff deliberately contrasts with the military installation’s serious presentation.
